Chocolate And Peanut Butter, Marriage From Heaven!
There is absolutely no question about where my heart lies when it comes to candy. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Reese’s Pieces are it for me (I know, huge shocker). Reese’s cups were my favorite Halloween candy as a kid.
While peanut butter cups were introduced as early as 1920, what makes them so special? If you love peanut butter as much as I do, then you already know the answer!
These cups are one of my favorite candies, and the best part is that they are well-loved all over America. Reese cups, one of the most popular peanut butter cup brands, is one that is often given away at Halloween, and is often added to Easter baskets each year.
So, how easy are they to make? If you have a simple recipe to follow, it’s no big deal. Let me share mine with you today.
I am going to share with you one of my favorite recipes that often calms my addiction for peanut butter, and it’s so easy to make that you can do it right in your own kitchen.
First of all you MUST melt some chocolate. Sounds easy right? It is, and all you need is a simple double boiler system with two saucepans if you don’t have a double boiler at home. Then, all you need to make it complete is some peanut butter, and a little bit more chocolate.
Peanut Butter Cups
½ c. Peanut butter, (not the organic) (I use Skippy’s Creamy)
2 tbsp. butter
1/8 tsp. salt
½ c. powdered sugar
9 oz. Semi sweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
9 oz. Milk chocolate, coarsely chopped
1 tbsp. shortening
To make these peanut butter cups is simple, so all you need to do is melt the butter and peanut butter in a bowl, in your microwave. Just soften it, but don’t completely melt it. Take the mixture and stir in the powdered sugar to complete the peanut butter mix.
You will then melt the two types of chocolate in a heat proof bowl over a saucepan with boiling water. This is the makeshift double boiler system that you can use to make it with ease.
Take a teaspoon of chocolate mixture and spoon into mini muffin cups, then spoon in a teaspoon of peanut mixture. Once you do this, you will then add another teaspoon of chocolate mixture to top it off. This is how you get peanut butter cups!
These are so easy to make, and the best part is that they only take about 30 minutes to make.
